El valor de la solidaridad en los colegios del Ave María. La alegría de hacer el bien “Mayor felicidad es dar que recibir” (Lucas, Hech. 20, 35)

    Bajo el título: “El valor de la solidaridad en los colegios del Ave María” exponemos, en un primer momento, la importancia de la gratuidad en el desarrollo humano, pues hacer el bien nos aporta una alegría y satisfacción interior, nada comparable con la recompensa material. Este valor, sin embargo, es difícil de entender para cuantos insertos en una sociedad materialista, viven en y para el bienestar materia, en el que el tener es la medida del ser. Y, sin embargo, lo verdaderamente humano e importante en nuestra vida es gratuito: el amor, la amistad, la familia, los hijos, la vida, etc.

    En un segundo momento, describimos el valor de la gratuidad en los colegios del Ave María desde sus orígenes hasta la actualidad. Su fundador Andrés Manjón, en su recorrido diario, desde el Sacromonte a la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Granada, para impartir sus clases, se conmovió de la miseria material y moral en la que vivían muchas familias gitanas. Tal sentimiento le llevó a la creación de las primeras escuelas del Ave María para los alumnos más pobres y necesitados, cuyos valores siguen hoy vigentes en sus nueve colegios. En este sentido se creó el Fondo Solidario para atender de modo ordenado y sistemático dichas necesidades. Su lema “Corazon y compromiso” es altamente significativo.

    Under the title: “The value of solidarity in the schools of the Ave Maria” we expose, at first, the importance of gratuitousness in human development, because doing good brings us a joy and inner satisfaction, nothing comparable to the material reward. This value, however, is difficult to understand for those inserted in a materialistic society, who live in and for material well-being, in which having is the measure of being. And yet, what is truly human and important in our life is free: love, friendship, family, children, life, etc.

    In a second moment, we describe the value of free in the schools of the Ave Maria from its origins to the present. Its founder Andrés Manjón, in his daily journey, from Sacromonte to the Faculty of Law of the University of Granada, to teach his classes, was moved by the material and moral misery in which many Roma families lived. This feeling led him to the creation of the first Ave Maria schools for the poorest and neediest students, whose values are still valid today in his nine schools. In this sense, the Solidarity Fund was created to meet these needs in an orderly and systematic manner. Its motto “Heart and commitment” is highly significant.
