    La Guerra de Sucesión española que tiene lugar a inicios del siglo XVIII, tuvo un efecto positivo en el ascenso y promoción social de las élites locales que secundaron la causa de los Borbón. Teniendo en cuenta este hecho probado por la investigación histórica, en el presente trabajo se analiza el caso concreto de las élites concejiles de la ciudad de Ourense atendiendo a su vinculación con la milicia, que se incrementa objetivamente coincidiendo con dicha coyuntura bélica a través de diversas vías que les facilitan el acceso a la oficialidad militar.

    The War of the Spanish Succession that took place at the first years of the Eighteenth century, influenced positively the social ascent and promotion of local elites that seconded the Bourbon claim. According to this fact that was proved by historical research, we analyze in this work the case of the town council elites from Ourense. So we pay attention to their linkage with the army, which was increased during this war situation through several ways that facilitated their access to military officership.
