    La tradición sobre los primeros pobladores de la Ciudad habló de colonos griegos y en particular, de los sucesores de los fugitivos de Troya, y de poblaciones autóctonas, los aborígenes, las poblaciones que ya estaban instaladas en el Lacio. Versiones que en algún momento en esta tradición se fusionan. Se crea así la imagen de una Roma abierta, de población mixta y heterogénea desde el principio, que la hizo la más fuerte y poderosa de su tiempo. Pero esta imagen sólo era una retroproyección de la Roma que habitaban los historiadores que construyeron el relato de su pasado más antiguo, a partir de su presente.

    The tradition about the first settlers of Rome spoke of Greek colonists and in particular, of the successors of the fugitives from Troy, and of autochthonous populations, the aborigines, the populations that were already installed in Lazio. Versions that at some point in this tradition merge. Thus, the image of an open Rome is created, with a mixed and heterogeneous population from the beginning, which made it the strongest and most powerful of its time. But this image was only a rear projection of the Rome inhabited by the historians who constructed the story of its most ancient past, based on its present.
