    This work aims at investigating the use of threats in the talk of the conciliator in a preliminary hearing in the Special Criminal Court of a town of Minas Gerais. To this end, the theoretical-methodological references of Conversation Analysis (SACKS, SCHEGLOFF, JEFFERSON, 1974; DREW; HERITAGE, 1992) and Interactional Sociolinguistics (GUMPERZ, 2002[1982], 1999; GOFFMAN, 1974, 2002[1979]) are adopted. This work is qualitative-interpretative (DENZIN, LINCOLN, 2006) and the data were transcribed following the Jefferson's transcription system (LODER, 2008). Data generation and analysis were aided by ethnographic knowledge obtained not only through interviews, field diaries, informal conversations, and so forth, but also by the researcher's ethnographic coexistence as a member of the community and know ledge able of culture and customs. The results show that the threats are of the directive-commissive conditional type, and are structured as formal syllogism. They act in the accomplishment of the institutional mandate (MAYNARD, 1984) in order to carry out the tasks foreseen for that speaking situation.

    Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar o uso de ameaças na fala da conciliadora em uma audiência preliminar no Juizado Especial Criminal de uma cidade de Minas Gerais. Para tanto, adotam-se os referenciais teórico-metodológicos da Análise da Conversa (SACKS; SCHEGLOFF; JEFFERSON, 1974; DREW; HERITAGE, 1992) e da Sociolinguística Interacional (GUMPERZ, 2002[1982], 1999; GOFFMAN, 1974, 2002[1979]). O trabalho é de cunho qualitativo-interpretativo (DENZIN; LINCOLN, 2006), e os dados foram transcritos seguindo as convenções do modelo Jefferson (LODER, 2008). A geração e a análise dos dados foram auxiliadas pelo conhecimento etnográfico obtido não só por meio de entrevistas, diários de campo, conversas informais etc., como também pela convivência etnográfica da pesquisadora como integrante da comunidade e conhecedora da cultura e dos costumes. Os resultados mostram que as ameaças são do tipo condicional diretivo-comissivo, estruturadas como silogismo formal, e atuam no cumprimento do mandato institucional (MAYNARD, 1984) para dar continuidade às tarefas previstas para aquela situação de fala.
