With the arrival of Admiral Christopher Columbus to our lands everything changed forever. The world of the natives of America took such an overture that it changed the entire planet with it. And it is that when the Admiral stepped on the island of Guanahaní there was already a society established and consolidated by these places.

Studies have shown that the first inhabitants of Cuba came from North, Central and South America.

Once settled, the aboriginal communities reached different levels of socioeconomic development, generating a great amount of objects, waste and other evidences, which are preserved for more than 500 years and allow a detailed study on the life of these first inhabitants. Puerto Padre had the fortune of being one of the regions most populated by the natives, so the evidence is so solid and varied that it has motivated many amateurs, researchers and specialists to devote themselves to archaeological study. The speleological-archaeological group Atabex -Maniabón is a clear example of this, because in its 32 years it has developed an untiring work in the rescue of the archaeological heritage. The present work is aimed to the appreciation of the Atabex-Maniabón group and its contributions to provincial archeology as part of the cultural heritage and national identity.
