    A partir da hermenêutica de trechos da Poética e da Retórica de Aristóteles, nos quais se problematiza a história enquanto gênero narrativo e investigativo, e também de discussão da recepção desta questão em autores contemporâneos, investiga-se a noção de historiografia implicada no pensamento aristotélico. O inquérito avança tanto no sentido de revisitar a leitura moderna sobre a avaliação da história na Poética, e também a tendência de buscar na Retórica uma acepção mais condizente com o conhecimento histórico moderno, sem perder de vista o enraizamento institucional da historiografia antiga enquanto gênero ligado à retórica.

    Based on hermeneutical analysis of excerpts from Aristotle's Poetics and Rhetoric, in which history is examined as a narrative and investigative genre, and considering contemporary authors' discussions on this matter, the study delves into the notion of historiography implicated in Aristotelian thought. The inquiry moves towards revisiting the contemporary debate on the assessment of history in the Poetics, as well as the tendency to seek in the Rhetoric a more compatible Aristotelian interpretation with modern historical methodology, all the while keeping in mind the institutional foundation of ancient historiography as a genre linked to rhetoric.
