El ik’al: Etnografía y montaje de un mito maya

    En este trabajo se propone una etnografía experimental basada sobre el concepto de montaje elaborado por Walter Benjamin. El mito maya tzotzil del ik’al, recolectado en distintas ocasiones con diferentes informantes, ha sido editado en un montaje polifónico para transformar la figura del etnográfo de autor en editor. De esta forma, el significado del relato no sería el resultado de un poiéin sino más bien un léghein, un dejar que las cosas se muestren por si mismas sin ser “manipuladas” por la interpretación del antropólogo.

    This paper proposes an experimental ethnography based on the concept of montage developed by Walter Benjamin. The Mayan Tzotzil myth of ik'al, collected on different occasions with different informants, has been edited in a polyphonic montage to transform the figure of the ethnographer from author to editor. In this way, the meaning of the story would not be the result of a poiéin but rather a léghein, letting things show themselves without being “manipulated” by the anthropologist’s interpretation.
