Resumen de Suicídio de fumicultores no Rio Grande do Sul: gênero e mudanças de humor

  O artigo apresenta uma parte dos resultados da pesquisa sobre suicídio de fumicultores no Rio Grande do Sul, cujos dados primários foram obtidos através de entrevistas semiestruturadas com familiares de fumicultores que cometeram suicídio e trabalhadores que acompanham esses agricultores. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi identificar que fatores socioculturais e psicológicos podem estar associados ao suicídio de fumicultores no estado. A partir das entrevistas realizadas com os diferentes atores, os resultados foram agrupados em duas categorias de análise, a saber: mudança de humor apresentada antes do episódio de suicídio do fumicultor e a questão do gênero no suicídio de fumicultores. Este estudo indica que os fumicultores apresentam a ocorrência de transtornos psiquiátricos e sofrimento mental. Os fumicultores que cometeram suicídio demonstraram mudança de humor/comportamento antes do episódio suicida. Além disso, a prevalência de suicídio no sexo masculino está associada ao estereótipo ligado a imagem do homem do campo.

  The article presents a part of the results of the research on suicide among smokers in Rio Grande do Sul, whose primary data were obtained through semi-structured interviews with family members of smokers who committed suicide and workers who accompany these farmers. The aim of this research was to identify what sociocultural and psychological factors can be associated with the suicide of smokers in the state. From the interviews with the different actors, the results were grouped into two categories of analysis, namely: the change of mood presented before the suicide episode of the smoker and the question of gender in the suicide of smokers. This study indicates that smokers have psychiatric disorders and mental distress. Smokers who have committed suicide have shown a change in mood/behavior before the suicide episode. Furthermore, the prevalence of suicide in males is associated with the stereotype linked to the image of the man in the field.
