• Basque sociolinguistics considers that Basque language use plays a crucial role in the Basque language normalisation process. This is why a number of theoretical-empirical models have been devised:

  sociolinguistic, psychosocial and mathematical ones to explain Basque use in the Basque Country. These models are put at the disposal of general sociolinguistics so that they can also be applied to other subordinate and lesser used languages in a contact situation
