Los prólogos epistolares de Juan Páez de Castro a la traducción de la "Odisea" al español: genealogía de versiones, autógrafos y "descripti"

    En este artículo se presentan y contextualizan dos testimonios manuscritos pertenecientes a la tradición prologal que en torno a la Ulyxea de Gon- zalo Pérez escribió Juan Páez de Castro. Los manuscritos, procedentes de la biblio- teca de la Universidad de Princeton y de la British Library, son, respectivamente, el original de mano de dos de las versiones que Páez escribió sobre el prólogo a Pérez y una copia del xvi de una de tales versiones, transmitida junto al Diálogo de la lengua de Juan de Valdés. Contextualizaremos y colacionaremos los nuevos testimonios localizados y reconstruiremos así al completo la historia textual del prólogo de Páez a la Ulyxea de Pérez, para el que postularemos la existencia de tres versiones diferen- tes con descripti derivados. El artículo incluye también el rastreo del paradero actual de un códice de la Real Biblioteca con materiales de Páez de Castro.

    This article presents and contextualizes two manuscripts belonging to the prologue tradition that Juan Páez de Castro wrote around Ulyxea, a 16th century translation of Odisea by Gonzalo Pérez. The two manuscripts, coming from the Princeton University Library and the British Library, are, respectively, the hadwritten original of two of the versions that Páez wrote about the prologue and sent to Pérez and a 16th century copy of one of those versions, this second one transmitted together with the Dialogue of the language by Juan de Valdés. We will contextualize and collate the new testimonies located and thus reconstruct the complete textual history of the prologue; we will postulate the existence of three different versions with derived descripti. The article also includes the tracing of the present location of a codex of the Royal Library with materials by Paez de Castro.
