    La intención de este artículo es estudiar el accionar de los funcionarios y militares de los ejércitos españoles leales a Fernando VII forzados a desplazarse de un sitio a otro o huyendo de los presidios insurgentes para reintegrarse en sus puestos al servicio de la monarquía española durante el Trienio Liberal. Historizar la situación de incertidumbre y desamparo vivida por los que se quedaron varados en la ciudad de Río de Janeiro luego de frustrarse la empresa de reconquista del Río de la Plata organizada por la corona española y, a continuación, por el cierre de la embajada española en Río de Janeiro. Comprender los mecanismos institucionales utilizados para resolver su situación personal o colectiva y las alternativas que se abrieron en la coyuntura en que las Cortes del Trienio Liberal levantaban las banderas de “la pacificación de las Américas”, a partir del envío de comisionados regios para entablar negociaciones de paz con el gobierno de Buenos Aires. Mostrar las ventajas de recurrir al “análisis relacional” para observar el rol desempeñado por el plenipotenciario español como articulador de los leales fernandinos a escala de monarquía.

    The aim of this article is to study the actions of the functionaries and military officers of the Spanish armies loyal to Ferdinand VII, that were forced to move from one place to another, fleeing from the insurgent presidios, to be reintegrated into their posts at the service of the Spanish monarchy during the Liberal Triennium. Also, to historicize the situation of uncertainty and helplessness experienced by those who were stranded in the city of Rio de Janeiro after the failure of the Spanish Crown’s attempt to reconquer the Rio de la Plata and, afterwards, by the closure of the Spanish embassy in Rio de Janeiro. To comprehend the institutional mechanisms they employed to resolve their personal or collective situations, and the alternatives that became available to them as the Cortes of the Liberal Triennium raised the banner of “the pacification of the Americas” upon sending royal commissioners to negotiate peace with the government of Buenos Aires. To demonstrate the advantages of resorting to “relational analysis” to observe the role played by the Spanish plenipotentiary as articulator of the Fernandine loyalists on the scale of the Monarchy.
