    In the “Campos de Cima da Serra” of Rio Grande do Sul, São Francisco de Paula has, in the history of its territory, the fire for management of the native field. Due to the Legislation Preservation, it had the use prohibited breaking out changes in the producer’s way of living and in the landscape of the region. The aim of this research is to investigate how the Livestock Socio-Ecological System has changed throughout the time and how it has responded to these changes in face of the Socio-Ecological conflicts. In a documentary and bibliographic research associated to a field work. Interviews were conducted through semi-structured scripts, with questions to key informants. The investigation considerad the participants’ narrative in the scrutiny by Creswell and Poth. It emerges from research the due to the prohibition socio-environmental conflicts. It is highlighted, in the narrative of the actors of the a research, the possibility of holding the management with the fire’s use through their informal rules, habits and customs. The Social-Ecological System has adapted itself to the cycles caused by conflicts demonstrating resilience.

    Nos Campos de Cima da Serra no Rio Grande do Sul, São Francisco de Paula tem, na história do seu território, o fogo como manejo do campo nativo. Em decorrência da legislação ambiental, teve o uso proibido, desencadeando mudanças no modo de vida e na paisagem da região. Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo investigar como o Sistema Socioecológico sofreu alterações ao longo do tempo e como respondeu a mudanças diante dos conflitos socioambientais. Em uma pesquisa bibliográfica e documental associada à pesquisa de campo, realizou-se entrevistas por roteiros semiestruturados com perguntas a informantes-chave. A investigação considerou a narrativa dos participantes pelo escrutínio de Creswell e Poth. Emerge da pesquisa como decorrência desta proibição conflitos socioambientais. Destaca-se, na narrativa dos atores, a possibilidade de realizar o manejo por meio de normas informais consolidadas. O sistema socioecológico adaptou-se aos ciclos gerados pelos conflitos demonstrando resiliência.
