    La historia ambiental profundiza en el conocimiento de las interacciones entre la sociedad y el medioambiente. Siguiendo la línea marcada por dicha disciplina, este trabajo se aproxima al relato ambiental de la ciudad de Cádiz. Para ello, se ha explorado el contenido de coplas del Carnaval de los siglos XIX y XX, que nos aportan interesantes informaciones sobre la cuestión desde la óptica de las clases populares. Se tratan tres cuestiones: el impacto de la ciudad en su entorno, el impacto del medio natural en la ciudad y la respuesta urbana a sus propios desajustes y a la problemática medioambiental.

    Environmental history increases knowledge on the interactions between society and nature. Following the line marked by this discipline, this paper examines the environmental history of Cadiz. The Carnival songs of the 19th and 20th centuries have been used as a source, which provide us with interesting information on the issue from the point of view of the popular classes. Three themes are analyzed: the impact of the city on the natural environment, the impact of the natural environment on the city and the urban response to its own imbalances and environmental problems.
