The aim of this article is to examine the concept of «imperfect peace» and to expose its limitations with regard to the notion of «positive peace» in order to uncover its conceptual subtext. Our hypothesis is that imperfect peace is theoretically and critically limited and ineffective in the practice of political and ethical action within Peace Research. We use a comparative methodology consisting of a literature review of the work of Johan Galtung and Francisco A. Muñoz to find the differences and similarities between the two concepts. In this study an overlap between these concepts is observed, which encourages us to think about the denialism of many authors from the «imperfect» field concerning positive peace. As a result, this overlapping constitutes an effort to impose the concept of imperfect peace to the detriment of positive peace, with the fragmentation that this means for Peace Research.
