    The Portuguese translation of Alfonso X’s General Estoria, a universal chronicle which relies extensively on the Bible, survives only through short fragments: one, pertaining to the second part of the Castilian text, and two sets of fragments from the first part, the most recent discovered in 2012. After briefly reflecting upon the Portuguese reception of universal chronicles, and evaluating the Portuguese translations of the General Estoria, the 2012 fragments are compared with their Ca-tilian counterparts, thus allowing to advance with a stemma codicum that relates the fragments to the Castilian archetype to be established.

    A tradução portuguesa da General Estoria de Afonso X, história universal profundamente devedora do texto bíblico, sobrevive apenas em breves fragmentos: um da segunda parte, e dois conjuntos de fragmentos da primeira, os mais recentes dos quais descobertos em 2012 (T2). Após uma breve reflexão sobre a recepção portuguesa de crónicas universais, e da avaliação das traduções portuguesas da General Estoria, comparam-se os fragmentos de 2012 com os manuscritos castelhanos correspondentes, permitindo estabelecer uma relação estemática dos fragmentos com o arquétipo castelhano.
