El papel de la Inteligencia Emocional y Espiritual en la intervención sanitaria y educativa

    Introducción: comienza a darse una gran importancia al estudio de la Inteligencia Emocional y Espiritual en contextos educativos y sanitarios, por la repercusión que estos constructos teóricos tienen sobre la conducta humana y, consecuentemente, en el ejercicio de las funciones profesionales de estudiantes, docentes y sanitarios. Objetivo: hallar la relación existente entre la inteligencia emocional y la espiritualidad y cómo ésta puede condicionar la conducta de estudiantes y profesionales de la salud.Método: revisión narrativa de artículos originales, realizándose una búsqueda sistemática a través de las bases de datos de EBSCHOHot (APA Pscycinfo), ERIC, MEDLINE, PubMed y SCOPUS y utilizándose los siguientes términos para efectivar esta búsqueda: “Emotional Intelligence” AND “Spiritual*” AND “Correlation*.Resultados: Esta revisión incluyó 7 artículos, siendo que 6 son originales y 1 es una revisión crítica, haciendo referencia a investigaciones efectuadas en contextos educativos y sanitarios y realizadas, fundamentalmente, en países orientales. Se demuestra la relación existente entre los constructos de Inteligencia Emocional y Espiritual y la importancia que estas competencias tienen sobre la conducta humana.Conclusiones: es pertinente realizar más estudios que relacionen estas dos variables, así como la necesidad de introducir y trabajar estos conceptos, en contextos educativos y de intervención sanitaria, con el objetivo de mejorar las competencias de los estudiantes y profesionales. Así mismo, se deberá de evitar confundir los conceptos de espiritualidad con religiosidad que, estando asociados, presentan significados e implicaciones prácticas diferentes.

    Introduction: the study of Emotional and Spiritual Intelligence in educational and health contexts is beginning to be given great importance, due to the repercussion that these theoretical constructs have on human behavior and, consequently, on the exercise of the professional functions of students, teachers and health professionals.Objective: to find the relationship between emotional intelligence and spirituality and how those concepts can condition the behavior of students and health professionals.Methods: a narrative review of original articles, performing a systematic search through the EBSCHOHot (APA Pscycinfo), ERIC, MEDLINE, PubMed and SCOPUS database. The descriptors used: "Emotional Intelligence" AND "Spiritual*" AND "Correlation*.Results: this review included 7 articles, 6 of which are original and 1 is a critical review, referring to research carried out in educational and health contexts and conducted mainly in Eastern countries. The relationship between the constructs of Emotional and Spiritual Intelligence and the importance that these competencies have on human behavior is demonstrated.Conclusions: it is pertinent to carry out more studies that relate these two variables, as well as the need to introduce and work on these concepts in educational and health intervention contexts, with the aim of improving the competencies of students and professionals. Likewise, it is important to avoid confusing the concepts of spirituality and religiosity which, although associated, have different meanings and practical implications.
