Las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias (1970-1973) fueron una organización armada de la nueva izquierda argentina que se formó en el marxismo, se identificó con el peronismo y apostó a un proceso revolucionario por el socialismo. Pasó de una perspectiva foquista centrada a la lucha armada, a una práctica más amplia que incluía la organización y movilización popular, y la disputa política en ámbitos institucionales. Para fines de 1973 se fusionó con Montoneros, la organización más gravitante de la izquierda peronista. En este artículo analizamos cómo las FAR, manteniendo su condición de organización armada, se volcaron a la organización de sectores populares e incorporaron la actividad política no armada, buscando aportar a un proceso revolucionario en Argentina.

The Revolutionary Armed Forces (1970-1973) were an armed organization of the new Argentine left that was formed in Marxism, identified with Peronism and bet on a revolutionary process for socialism. It went from a focus perspective focused on armed struggle, to a broader practice that also included popular organization and mobilization, and political disputes in institutional settings. By the end of 1973, it merged with Montoneros, the most important organization of the Peronist left. In this article we analyze how the FAR, maintaining its status as an armed organization, turned to the organization of popular sectors and incorporated unarmed political activity, seeking to contribute to a revolutionary process in Argentina.
