Some observations on the type material of Globotruncana elevata (Brotzen) and Globotrucana concavata (Brotzen)

  • Lectotypes are designated for Globotruncana elevata (Brotzen) and Globotruncana concavata (Brotzen), which agree quite well with the generally accepted concepts of these species. In addition, Globotruncana stuartiformis Dalbiez and Globotruncana carinata Dalbiez are discussed in some detail. Globotruncana stuartiformis is regarded as a junior synonym of Globotruncana elevata. The distinction of Globotruncana concavata and Globotruncana carinata is thought to be stratigraphically useful. The range of Globotruncana concavata overlaps the range of Globotruncana elevata.
