Resumen de Test formation pattern in planktonic foraminiferids
Light-microscopy of thin sections, half-sections, and acetate peels, as well as transmission electron-microscopy of carbon-platinum shadowed acetate replicas complete available published evidence in order to demostrate that the planktonic foraminiferid test is formed according to the pattern of lamellar foraminiferids of the so-called bilamellar group. The contention by Blow (1969) that planktonic foraminiferids are non-lamellar is discussed and refuted.
