  • Resumen
    • Catalan Studies engages in two main critical tasks: the preservation and transmission of the archive, and the theorization of cultural works in relation to present academic and intellectual debates. One problematic issue is that the conceptual categories used by these critical tasks respond to national and institutional situations that do not share the minority or semiperipheral status of Catalan culture. Consequently, these categories often end up reducing the singularity of the Catalan space. Rather than simply rejecting them, however, I propose to embrace the frictions that this disjuncture generates and mobilize, even weaponize, Catalan cultural works against the dominant forms of structuring knowledge.

I illustrate this task of counter-critique with three examples of critical interventions by Guillem Colom-Montero, Ignasi Gozalo-Salellas, and Adam Singh.
