    Los escribanos elaboraban sus propias tintas antes de proceder al acto de escribir. Estas formulaciones han sido recopiladas durante siglos en textos casuales o más elaborados, en recopilaciones de remedios y secretos o el arte de escribir, que se han traducido y han transmitido el conocimiento entre las diferentes culturas de Oriente y Occidente, e incluso, traspasaron el Atlántico. Este artículo profundiza en el estudio de los ingredientes que se mencionan en 160 fuentes documentales manuscritas e impresas de la Península Ibérica desde la época andalusí hasta finales del siglo XIX, con referencias a recetas anteriores que explican el empleo de un riquísimo repertorio de componentes adicionales que son testimonio de la unidad, y a la vez riqueza y diversidad de las recetas de tinta ferrogálica.

    Scribes made their own inks before proceeding with the act of writing. These formulations have been compiled over the centuries in casual or more elaborate texts, in compilations of remedies and secrets or the art of writing, which have been translated and have transmitted knowledge between the different cultures of East and West, and even crossed the Atlantic. This article takes an in-depth look at the ingredients mentioned in 160 handwritten and printed documentary sources from the Iberian Peninsula from the Andalusian period to the end of the 19th century, with references to earlier recipes that explain the use of a rich repertoire of additional components that bear witness to the unity, and at the same time richness and diversity, of the recipes for iron-gall ink.
