Postes radiculares de base orgánica: ventajas y limitaciones

    Los postes radiculares de base orgánica han tenido mucha difusión en los últimos tiempos. Se les adjudica una serie de ventajas como funcionar estructuralmente más parecido a la dentina, poder ser adheridos y reforzar mecánicamente el remanente dentario así como mejorar aspectos ópticos y biológicos de la rehabilitación.

    Sin embargo, la realidad clínica muestra muchas veces problemas como fracturas y desprendimientos. Varios factores intervienen en esta problemática: la preparación inadecuada del conducto, la fijación adhesiva en un terreno complejo, el medio cementante de técnica sensible y el mismo comportamiento mecánico estructural del poste. Estos factores deberían muchas veces limitar y/o contraindicar su empleo.

    The fiber reinforced endodontic posts have been widely promotioned over the last few years. Some advantages were also presentad with them: the dentin -like mechanical behaviour, the bonding possibilities together with the ability to reinforce the dental remnant and the enhancement of optical and biological aspects of the rehabilitation.

    Nevertheless, the clinical reality show sorne problems such as fractures or dislodgements of the posts form the root canal preparation.

    Several reasons are responsible for this: the inadequate post space preparation, the adhesive luting in a difficult sustrate, the luting agent which is complicated and sensitive to use and the mechanical behaviour of the post itself. These factors should limit and sometimes contraindicate the use of this kind of posts.
