    The present work sought to analyze the epistemological obstacles in the description of scientific knowledge and in the female repre-sentations present in the book: "Scientists: 50 women who changed the world", for that purpose, we used as a theoretical reference the seven epistemological obstacles of Gaston Bachelard. The main obstacles found in the description of scientific knowledge in the analyzed book were: verbal, substantialist, realist and animist. Regarding women's role in science, the representations of women in science have moved away from stereotyped views. Finally, despite the epistemological obstacles found, we understand that the book can be used as teaching material in teacher training and basic education in the sense of understanding the problems arising from these epistemological obstacles and in order to know the stories of women scientists and motivate students to engage in the struggle to overcome female stereotypes and expand female participation in science, specifically in physics.

    O presente trabalho buscou analisar os obstáculos epistemológicos na descrição do conhecimento científico e nas representações femininas presentes no livro: As cientistas: 50 mulheres que mudaram o mundo, para tanto, utilizamos como referencial teórico os sete obstáculos epistemológicos de Gaston Bachelard. Os principais obstáculos encontrados na descrição do conhecimento científico no livro analisado foram: o verbal, substancialista, realista e animista. Em relação a atuação feminina na ciência, as representações das mulheres na ciência se distanciaram das visões estereotipadas. Por fim, apesar dos obstáculos epistemológicos encontrados entende-mos que o livro pode ser utilizado como material didático na formação de professores e na educação básica no sentido, de entender os problemas advindos desses obstáculos epistemológicos e com o intuito de conhecer histórias de mulheres cientistas e motivar os estudantes a se engajarem na luta pela superação dos estereótipos femininos e ampliação da participação feminina na Ciência, em específico na física.
