Resumen de Aspectos reproductivos de una población de Donax Hanleyanus ( Bivalvia, Donacidae) en las playas del sur de Brasil

Guacira María Gil, José Willibaldo Thomé, Jesús Souza Troncoso

  • The reproductive system of donax hanleyanus, Philippi, 1847 is described during both the period of rest and of sexual activity of gonads. In both males and females, the two gonads are constituted by an assembly of ramifed follicles of whitey-yellow coloration situated in the back/side region of the body, each of them ending in the genital pore surrounded by a protuberant papilla. The gonoducts are coated by a ciliated epithelium, forming small chambers, located very close tu the genital openings. The genital pores open, through their papillas, in the suprabranchial cavity, netx to the median portion of the kidneys, immediately below the pericardium. The diameter of the male follicles ranges from 3 mm (in early stages of maturation) to 380 mm (maximum maturation) while the diameter of the ovarian follicles varies between 35 mm and 250 mm
