    This paper aims to analyse the role played by the scribe in the ancient Egyptian society, as well as the characteristics and forms of organization of human relations in the African context at the time, as configured in the “The tale of the Shipwrecked Sailor”. These issues are still poorly explored in the historiography in Portuguese. Therefore, this paper comments four texts, written in Portuguese, on the subject.

    O presente artigo propõe-se a refletir sobre a função desempenhada pelo escriba na sociedade egípcia antiga, bem como sobre as características e formas de organização das relações humanas no contexto africano da época, tal como são configuradas no Conto do náufrago, questões essas ainda pouco trabalhadas pela historiografia de língua portuguesa sobre o tema. Examina, na sequência, quatro artigos produzidos em língua portuguesa sobre o tema.
