    La historia del judaísmo, del cristianismo y del islam se va entretejiendo con la historia de Oriente Medio y, aunque no sería legítimo simplificar hasta reducir los conflictos de la región a guerras de religiones, podemos reconocer la identidad religiosa (no la religión en sí misma) como un elemento a tener en cuenta a la hora de analizarlos. El objetivo de este artículo es rastrear el factor de la identidad religiosa en los conflictos actuales que azotan Oriente Medio, pero sin pretender atribuirle la virtualidad de ser la base para explicar los factores que los desencadenan y los mantienen vivos. Por otro lado, se analiza también el factor de la identidad religiosa, no solo en conflictos armados, sino también en fracturas sociales que, si bien están lejos de derivar en guerras, pueden ser o son una amenaza para una deseada paz social.

    The history of Judaism, Christianity and Islam relates to the history of the Middle East and although it would not be legitimate to simplify until we reduce the conflicts in the region to wars of religions, we can recognize religious identity (not religion itself) as an element to consider when analysing them. The objective of this article is to trace the factor of religious identity in the current conflicts in the Middle East but without trying to attribute to it the virtuality of being the basis for explaining the factors that trigger and keep them alive. In addition, the factor of religious identity is also analysed not only in armed conflicts but also in social fractures that, although they are far from leading to wars, can be or are a threat to a desired social peace.
