    El «Telegrama largo» y el «Artículo X» del diplomático George F. Kennan fueron el germen de la exitosa política de contención de los Estados Unidos sobre la Unión Soviética durante la Guerra Fría.

    Ante el rápido ascenso actual de China, que intenta disputar el liderazgo global a los Estados Unidos, se ha planteado la viabilidad de adoptar la política de contención para frenar el desarrollo hegemónico del país asiático.

    El presente artículo, partiendo de la comparación de las características esenciales del modelo soviético y del actual régimen chino, pretende determinar si es factible la aplicación de la contención sobre China en los términos en que Kennan la planteó.

    The Long Telegram and Article X, by diplomat George F. Kennan, were the seeds of the successful US policy of containment of the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

    In the face of the current rapid rise of China, which is trying to dispute the global leadership of the United States, the feasibility of adopting the containment policy to curb the hegemonic development of the Asian country has been considered.

    This article, starting from the comparison of the essential characteristics of the Soviet model and of the current Chinese regime, aims to determine whether the application of containment on China is feasible, in the terms in which Kennan proposed it.
