    Después de dos décadas de lucha contra el terrorismo internacional desde el 11 de septiembre de 2001 se hace necesario un análisis sobre estos veinte años de lucha contra el terror.

    Hay que analizar los distintos escenarios donde estos grupos se han hecho presentes, así como todos los factores que lo han hecho posible, cuál ha sido la respuesta internacional a esta amenaza y cuál será el escenario futuro al que nos enfrentaremos.

    Durante estos veinte años ha sido grande el esfuerzo internacional para combatir el terrorismo, destacando entre ellos la Coalición Global contra Dáesh en especial en Siria e Irak. Sin embargo y a pesar de ello hemos visto el aumento de estos ataques terroristas en los últimos años y cómo se han dispersado geográficamente, siendo especialmente preocupante los grupos afiliados a Dáesh y a Al Qaeda presentes en África en la actualidad.

    A pesar de los esfuerzos tanto regionales como internacionales en la lucha contra el terrorismo, este sigue siendo una de las principales amenazas ante la que nos encontramos. Una vez derrotados prácticamente en Siria e Irak, se han extendido a otras regiones como el Sahel, el sudeste asiático o África oriental.

    After two decades of fighting against international terrorism since September 11, 2001, an analysis of these 20 years of fighting against terror is necessary.

    We must analyze the different scenarios where these groups have been present, as well as all the factors that have made it possible, what has been the international response to this threat and what will be the future scenario that we will face.

    During these 20 years, the international effort to combat terrorism has been great, highlighting among them the Global Coalition against Dáesh, especially in Syria and Iraq.

    However, and despite this, we have seen the increase in these terrorist attacks in recent years and how they have spread geographically, with the groups affiliated with Dáesh and Al Qaeda present in Africa currently being of particular concern.

    Despite both regional and international efforts in the fight against terrorism, this continues to be one of the main threats we face. Once practically defeated in Syria and Iraq, they have spread to other countries such as the Sahel, Southeast Asia or East Africa.

    Also, noteworthy is the presence of far-right terrorism in recent years and the incidence of COVID-19 in 2020 in all these terrorist groups, which was used to radicalize a greater number of followers through the use of the internet to commit attacks throughout the world.

    To this day, terrorism continues to be a serious threat that requires a continuous commitment on the part of the International Community.
