  • Resumen
    • Catalan can express orders through the future tense (Tancaràs la finestra!).

Any unstressed pronouns need to be added before the future verb form (La finestra, ja la tancaràs). However, in northwestern areas, unstressed pronouns can be added after the future when it is used as an imperative (La finestra està oberta: quan marxis, tancaràs-la); this is the so-called futur d’imperació. This syntactic order in the future tense (verb plus pronoun) is unusual in other regions. It may be a higher degree in the process that allows the expression of the ‘obligatory’ sense using the future tense.
