    La Diada de 2012 trigarà a ser oblidada. I els esdeveniments polítics i socials que s’han succeït des de llavors ençà semblen reforçar una tendència creixent de support social a la independència de Catalunya.

    Això hauria significat una gir substancialment en la corrent nacionalista majoritària des del retorn de la Democràcia. Aquest pensament nacionalista, personificat en la figura del President Pujol i sintetitzat en la idea de pragmatisme semblaria no tenir més cabuda en l’escena política catalana.

    Tant és així que el propi President Pujol s’hauria esmenat. Ara bé, tal i com intenta evidenciar aquesta contribució, el projecte polític endegat pel nacionalisme català majoritari des del moment de la Transició no ha desaparegut, simplement ha mostrat una faceta que fins ara havia quedat oculta. L’empitjorament de la situació econòmica i, sobre tot, el sentiment de greuge derivat de la Sentència del Tribunal Constitucional arràn del recurs d’inconstitucionalitat presentat contra el nou Estatut de Catalunya de 2006, han movilitzat la societat catalana cap a una opció política que la idea de pragmatisme tradicional havia deixat latent. En efecte, l’actuació pragmàtica del nacionalisme majoritari català que encapçalà el President Pujol, projectat tant a l’interior del sistema español com enfora d’aquest, i que a primera vista semblava estar encaminada a mantenir l’status quo, ha servit també per inciar el canvi i establir unes bases institucionals i cognitives per a la transició.

    The events and memories of the 2012 National Day of Catalonia (La Diada) will not soon be forgotten. The political and social events that have happened since then only reinforce a growing trend of widespread support for Catalan independence. The current nationalist thinking is embodied in the figure of former Regional President Jordi Pujol who synthesized the idea of political pragmatism, a political strategy that no longer seems prevalent in the Catalan political scene. However, the nation building project launched by the Catalan nationalist political majority from the time of the transition to democracy has not gone away, it has just showed a side that had previously been hidden. The worsening economic situation and, above all, a sense of criticism arising from the Spanish Constitutional Court as a result of an appeal of unconstitutionality filed against the 2006 Statute of Catalonia, has mobilized Catalan society towards a political option that reinforced the aforementioned rejection of the traditional idea of pragmatism. Indeed, the pragmatic stance of the majority Catalan nationalism led by President Pujol, which was designed to function both inside and outside of the Spanish system, and at first glance the project seemed to be intended in order to maintain the status quo, has now evindeced to create change and establish a foundation for cognitive and institutional transition.
