    En el presente artículo tenemos por objetivo explorar la utilidad de algunos componentes de la literatura, en concreto el género de la novela y de cómo este resulta útil para la generación de la escritura de la narración histórica. Nuestra elección apuntó a revisar las denominada novelas realistas o sociales de principios del siglo XX. Para ello, se realiza un análisis de las novelas El roto (1920) de Joaquín Edwards Bello, La viuda del conventillo (1930) de Alberto Romero y La sangre y la esperanza (1943) de Nicomedes Guzmán. En el estudio de las obras se identifica cómo se representó el transporte colectivo que circuló por Santiago de Chile durante la primera mitad del siglo XX. Esta apuesta analítica permite incorporar un registro más amplio a la comprensión histórica del proceso de transformaciones físicas y sociales de la ciudad, las que no fueron percibidas ni lineal ni similarmente por los diversos grupos sociales que habitaron este espacio urbano

    In this article we aim to explore the usefulness of some components of literature, specifically the genre of the novel and how it is useful for the generation of historical narrative writing. Our choice aimed to revise the so-called realistic or social novels of the early twentieth century. For this, an analysis of the novels El roto (1920) by Joaquín Edwards Bello, La viuda del conventillo (1930) by Alberto Romero and La sangre y la esperanza (1943) by Nicomedes Guzmán is carried out. The study of the works identifies how the collective transport that circulated through Santiago de Chile during the first half of the 20th century was represented. This analytical bet allows incorporating a broader register to the historical understanding of the process of physical and social transformations of the city, which were not perceived either linearly or similarly by the various social groups that inhabited this urban space.
