    La advocación a la Virgen de las Nieves en Agaete, su culto y dotación estuvieron vinculados a un patronazgo privativo hasta 1892, pasando a depender la gestión económica de la administración eclesiástica. A partir del segundo tercio del siglo XIX, las personas relevantes del pueblo y los que la visitaron, así como la prensa, dieron a conocer los valores y atractivos de este pueblo y de sus fiestas. Durante este largo periodo de tiempo, la fiesta y su rama despertaron el interés de investigadores, estudiosos y curiosos, siendo su origen objeto de especulaciones y comparaciones con otras de parecido rango. Desde ese entonces, las fiestas estuvieron en el punto de mira de intereses particulares, moneda de cambio político y la supremacía del lugar. Históricamente, los festejos organizados entono a la Virgen de las Nieves, no se pueden entender sin sus actos principales: la subida de la bandera, la diana, la rama, la retreta, las salvas de sus culebrinas, la solemne procesión de la virgen, los fuegos de artificios y la monumental traca, la romería ofrenda y sus populares papagüevos.

    The dedication to the Virgin of the Snows in Agaete, her cult and endowment were linked to a private patronage until 1892, when the economic management depended on the ecclesiastical administration. From the second third of the 19th century, the relevant people of the town and those who visited it, as well as the press, made known the values and attractions of this town and its festivals. During this long period of time, the festival and its branch aroused the interest of researchers, scholars and the curious, its origin being the subject of speculation and comparisons with others of a similar rank. Since then, the parties have been in the crosshairs of particular interests, political currency and the supremacy of the place. Historically, the festivities organized around the Virgen de Las Nieves cannot be understood without its main acts: the raising of the flag, the target, the branch, the retreat, the salutes of its culverins, the solemn procession of the Virgin, the fireworks and the monumental fireworks, the offering pilgrimage and its popular papagüevos.
