    De modo permanente se plantea la pregunta de si la Matemática se construye o se descubre. Desde mi enfoque el hacer matemático es una construcción conceptual del matemáti-co. El resultado de esa construcción se plasma en escritura y su captación exige de una reconstrucción de quien lee. La construc-ción de ese mundo es análoga a la de los mundos de ficción que inventa el escritor y el poeta, o el mundo sonoro que crea el com-positor musical. Los objetos, estructuras y teorías matemáticas llevan, en general, fecha y autor de su construcción. Se rechaza la idea de que el mundo que construyen los matemáticos exista con independencia de quienes lo construyen.

    he question of whether mathematics is construct-ed or discovered is constantly being asked. From my point of view, doing mathematics is a conceptual construction of the mathematician. The result of this construction takes the form of writing, and its understanding requires a reconstruction on the part of the reader. The construction of this world is analogous to the fictional worlds invented by the writer and the poet, or the sound world created by the musical composer. Mathemati-cal objects, structures and theories generally bear the date and author of their construction. The idea that the world constructed by mathematicians exists independently of those who construct it is rejected.
