Juan Bautista Alberdi fue un intelectual argentino que a través de sus obras influenció parte del pensamiento latinoamericano del momento y de la primera mitad del siglo XX. Su obra “El Crimen de la Guerra”gozó de gran prestigio internacional entre los círculos pacifistas y entre los intelectuales de Europa occidental durante las primeras décadas del siglo XX. Aunque su figura como intelectual de renombre se fue eclipsando con el paso de los años, su legado quedó plasmado en los documentos fundacionales de organismos internacionales, así como en tratados y doctrinas de América. Con la llegada del nuevo siglo, su obra vuelve a ser objeto de estudio entre los círculos académicos americanos obligando una relectura y una nueva valoración de su legado.

Juan Bautista Alberdi was an Argentine intellectual who, through his works, influenced part of the Latin American thought of the moment and of the first half of the 20th century. His work “The Crime of War”enjoyed great international prestige among pacifist circles and among Western European intellectuals during the first decades of the 20th century. Although his figure as a renowned intellectual was eclipsing over the years, his legacy was reflected in the founding documents of international organizations, as well as in treaties and doctrines of America. With the arrival of the new century, his work is once again the object of study among American academic circles, forcing a rereading and a new assessment of his legacy.
