Resumen de Investigación arqueológica del yacimiento La Custodia (Viana). Campaña de 2022

Se presentan los resultados preliminares de la intervención arqueológica en el yacimiento de La Custodia, centrada en la excavación y exhumación de los restos arqueológicos y humanos encontrados en uno de los cruces viarios de Vareia, ciudad berona de las fuentes clásicas. Los datos obtenidos al finalizar la cata 3 del sector II permiten conocer mucho mejor los detalles constructivos de su urbanismo y arquitectura doméstica. También vislumbrar con horror la masacre ocasionada por el ejército dirigido por Sertorio contra esta ciudad el año 76 a. C. en su cruzada contra el Senado romano.

La Custodia aztarnategian egindako esku-hartze arkeologikoaren aurretiko emaitzak aurkezten dira, Vareiako (iturri klasikoek aipatzen duten beroein hiria) bidegurutzeetako batean (iturri klasikoetako hiri beroa) aurkitutako aztarna arkeologikoak eta giza hondakinak induskatzean eta lurpetik ateratzean zentratua. II. sektoreko 3. katan lortutako datuei esker, hobeki ezagutu daitezke bertako hirigintzaren eta etxeko arkitekturaren eraikuntza-xehetasunak. Sertoriok, Senatu erromatarraren aurkako gurutzadan, hiri horren aurka K.a. 76. urtean zuzendu zuen armadak eragindako sarraskia ere hautematen da.

The preliminary results of the archaeological intervention in the site of La Custodia, focused on the excavation and exhumation of the archaeological and human remains found in one of the crossroads of the Berona city named Vareia in the Latin classic fonts, are presented. The data obtained at the end of trial excavationo 3 of sector II allow us to know much better the constructive details of its urban planning and home architecture. We can also glimpse with horror the massacre caused by the army led by Sertorius against this city in 76 B.C. in his crusade against the Roman Senate
