Resumen de Ermita de la Virgen del Pero (Peralta / Azkoien). Campaña arqueológica del 2022

  El yacimiento se emplaza junto al puente de entrada a Peralta / Azkoien, sobre el río Arga, en la orilla sur del río Molinar. La actuación arqueológica ha comprendido la ejecución de siete sondeos emplazados en el interior y exterior del santuario. La sistematización de la información obtenida permite aventurar, basándonos en una inscripción localizada y en el análisis de los sistemas edilicios, que el inicio de la construcción de la ermita se pudiera fechar en el siglo XV. Se ha incrementado el conocimiento sobre las fases constructivas y sus usos: lugar de culto y enterramiento, fortín carlista en las contiendas del siglo XIX y matadero municipal hasta el siglo XX.

  The site is located next to the bridge into Peralta / Azkoien over the Arga river on the south bank of the Molinar river. The archaeological intervention included seven surveys inside and outside the chapel. The systematisation of the information obtained allows us to venture, based on an inscrip­tion found and analysis of the building systems, that building of the chapel may have begun in the fifteenth century. We now know more about the phases of construction and the uses made of the building: place of worship and burial, Carlist stronghold in the nineteenth-century conflicts and municipal slaughterhouse until the twentieth century.

  Aztarnategia Azkoienera sartzeko zubiaren ondoan dago, Arga ibaiaren gainean, Molinar ibaiaren hegoaldeko ertzean. Esku-hartze arkeologikoan zazpi zundaketa egin dira, santutegiaren barruan eta kanpoaldean. Inskripzio bat aurkitu da eta eraikuntza-sistemak aztertu dira. Lortutako informazioa sistematizatuta esan dezakegu ermita XV. mendean hasi zirela eraikitzen. Orain hobeto ezagutzen dira eraikuntza-faseak eta erabilerak: gurtza-lekua eta ehorzteko tokia; gotorleku karlista, XIX. mendeko borroketan; eta udal-hiltegia, XX. mendera arte.
