Resumen de O potencial emancipatório da agroecologia em questão: dos riscos de cooptação à construção da autonomia.

  As well as ecological/environmental concerns in general, the notion of agroecology has acquired throughout its history a strong ambivalence, being incorporated by agents and institutions with the most diverse, often antagonistic interests. Thus, we note that the term “agroecology” has been used with fundamentally different meanings. The objective of this article is to problematize the ambiguous character of agroecology and question its supposed emancipatory potential, seeking, on one hand, to elucidate the historical-geographical origins of its diffusion and, on the other, to emphasize that the multiple scales of analysis, power relations, and the dynamics of class struggle are fundamental elements to be considered in the analysis of the territoriality of agroecological practices. We thus bring contributions from the human sciences and critical thinking to help qualify this reflection. We present the field of political ecology as a promising way to understand the environmental issue in general, as well as the disputes within agroecology in particular. We discussed the political discourses on agroecology prepared by FAO and Via Campesina, with the aim of pointing out some of the main milestones in this debate today. Finally, considering the risks of co-optation of agroecological movements today, we pointed out possible ways to qualify the analysis on its emancipatory potential. We conclude that agroecological practices must be associated with building autonomy to effectively serve the alleged social emancipation and confronting the current capitalist agricultural production system.

  Assim como as preocupações ecológicas/ambientais de modo geral, a noção de agroecologia adquiriu ao longo de sua história uma forte ambivalência, sendo incorporada por agentes e instituições com os mais diversos interesses, muitas vezes antagônicos. Dessa forma, notamos que o termo “agroecologia” vem sendo utilizado com sentidos fundamentalmente distintos. O objetivo do presente artigo consiste em problematizar o caráter ambíguo da agroecologia e questionar seu suposto potencial emancipatório, buscando, de um lado, elucidar as origens histórico-geográficas de sua difusão e, de outro, enfatizar que as múltiplas escalas de análise, as relações de poder e a dinâmica da luta de classes são elementos fundamentais a serem considerados na análise da territorialização das práticas agroecológicas. Trazemos, assim, contribuições das ciências humanas e do pensamento crítico para ajudar a qualificar essa reflexão. Apresentamos o campo da Ecologia Política como uma forma promissora de compreender a questão ambiental de forma geral, bem como as disputas no interior da agroecologia em particular. Discutimos os discursos políticos sobre a agroecologia elaborados pela FAO e pela Via Campesina, com o intuito de apontar alguns dos principais marcos desse debate na atualidade. Por fim, considerando os riscos de cooptação dos movimentos agroecológicos atualmente, apontamos possíveis caminhos para qualificar a análise sobre o seu potencial emancipatório. Concluímos que as práticas agroecológicas devem estar associadas à construção da autonomia para servir efetivamente à alegada emancipação social e ao enfrentamento do atual sistema de produção agrário/agrícola capitalista.
