Cultura, civilização e mal-estar: as possibilidades spenglerianas de Macunaíma e do Retrato do Brasil

  This paper aims, through the analysis of Macunaima (1928), by Mario de Andrade, and Retrato do Brasil (1928), by Paulo Prado, to explore the nuances of the reception of the repertoire of ideas, problems and concepts discussed by Oswald Spengler on his Decline of the West (1918-1922). The objective is to accomplish it by investigating the presence of the pair Kultur-Zivilization and of the organicist view of the social cycle, both present on Spengler’s work. Finally, the political possibilities and ethical imperatives that may partially be a result of these shared set of problematics are going to be analyzed.

  Este artigo busca, por meio da análise de Macunaíma (1928), de Mario de Andrade, e Retrato do Brasil (1928), de Paulo Prado, explorar as nuances da recepção do repertório de ideias, problemas e conceitos discutidos por Oswald Spengler, em seu Declínio do Ocidente(1918-1922). Objetiva-se fazê-lo por meio da investigação acerca da presença do binômio Kultur e Zivilization e do organicismo, presentes na obra de Spengler. Ao fim, pretende-se explorar as possibilidades políticas e éticas que, em parte, resultam desse conjunto de problemáticas partilhadas.
