  This article is an introduction to the contemporary discussions about ethics and history and their importance to a better understanding of the recent discussions about theory and history of historiography and intellectual history. We intend to offer a brief explanation about the historical contexts that allowed the emergence of new approaches to historical knowledge in modern times, highlighting its consequences to ethical thinking, theory and history of historiography and intellectual history.

Procuramos oferecer uma breve explanação sobre os contextos históricos que permitiram a emergência de novas abordagens do conhecimento histórico nos tempos modernos, destacando suas consequências para o pensamento ético, a teoria e história da historiografia e a história intelectual.
