Along with the development of concepts based on the scientific history, the nineteenth century witnessed the fusion between poetry and historical reality. This cooperation between the need for empirical/concrete reality and the demands of poetic literature enable the emergence of the so-called historical novels. These important issues have launched new perspectives for the understanding of theTacitus’s historiography. Our proposal in this article is represent this debate and emphasize that these newpers pectives for literary historiography have important limits that should be well defined, but without leaving aside the great contribution that these new issues brought to the literary theory, allowed for advances in studies on historical thought in antiquity.
