“Acabou a guerra… de volta ao lar”: representações das mulheres na imprensa paraguaia durante e após a Guerra do Paraguai. 1864-1904

    This text has for objective to present an analysis of the representations built on the Paraguayan women in the period of the War and of the postwar period of Paraguay (1864-1900). For the understanding of those representations, we were worth ourselves of the speeches transmitted by the press in both periods. The images and information that the newspapers transmitted regarding the women that struggled in the War of Paraguay tried to represent them as spartan warriors, that they should be examples for the whole society, of motivation and of patriotic diffusion. If the performance and the women's engagement in the resistance during the period of the War were significant, in the postwar period the recognition of the need of his performance in several tasks relapsed in the plan of the economy and of the morals, fundamental for the process of national reconstruction. The exit attempt for the demographic crisis that he had fallen on the country, after the end of the War, it reinforced the gender divisions with the exaltation of the maternity and of the mothers' sacrifice, as well as the women's of the public space exclusion.

    Este texto tem por objetivo apresentar uma análise das representações construídas sobre as mulheres paraguaias no período da Guerra e do pós-Guerra do Paraguai (1864-1904). Para a compreensão dessas representações, valemo-nos dos discursos veiculados pela imprensa em ambos os períodos. As imagens e informações que os jornais veiculavam a respeito das mulheres que lutaram na Guerra do Paraguai procuravam representá-las como guerreiras espartanas, que deveriam ser exemplos para toda a sociedade, de motivação e de difusão patriótica. Se a atuação e engajamento das mulheres na resistência durante o período da Guerra foram significativos, no pós-Guerra o reconhecimento da necessidade de sua atuação em diversas tarefas recaía no plano da economia e da moral, fundamentais para o processo de reconstrução nacional. A tentativa de saída para a crise demográfica que se abatera sobre o país, após o final da Guerra, reforçou as divisões de gênero com o enaltecimento da maternidade e do sacrifício das mães, bem como a exclusão das mulheres do espaço público.
