Determination of the Upper Paleocene-Lower Eocene Boundary by means of Calcareous Nannofossils

  • This paper deals with the study of the Calcareous mannofossils contained in some Upper Paleocene-Lower Eocene strata from Egypt. These fossils are used to determine the boundary line between the Paleocene and Eocene. Three biostratigraphic zones could be established; Discoaster multiradiatus Zone (Upper Paleocene) Marthasterites bramlettei-M. contortus Zone (straddles the boundary line between the Paleocene and Eocene) and M. tribrachiatus Zone (Lower Eocene).
