A well preserved assemblage of marine phytoplankton is described from the Upper Middle Cambrian Oville Formation of León, Spain, Nine taxa are abundantly present, five of these are new. They are: Multiplicisphaeridium lancarae, M. martae, M. raquelinae, Cymatiosphaera ovillensis and Zonosphaeridium ovillensis. The stratigraphic ranges of the ooidians and the diacrodians are evaluated and it is concluded that both ranges must be shortener from «Cambrian to Upper Ordovician» to «Tremadocian to Upper Ordovician».
