Objectives. To determine the antibiotic susceptibility of Escherichia coli and the predisposing factors of urinary tract infections in women treated at a primary care center in Jaén during the months august - december 2019. Materials and methods: 133 urine samples from women over 18 years of age with diagnosis of urinary infection were evaluated, which was preliminarily determined with a microscopic examination of the urinary sediment and corroborated with a culture, from where the microor-ganism was isolated, which was then identified by biochemical tests; antibiotic susceptibility was determined only from those cultures positive for E. coli. In addition, the predisposing factors of urinary infection were established through the application of a survey. Results: It was obtained that 23.30% of women presented urinary infection, identifying E. coli as a causal agent in 74.19% of cases. The age group where urinary infection predominated was 59 years or older (8.27%). Greater sensitivity was observed to ceftriaxone and ceftazidime (73.91%), followed by amikacin (69.56%) and gentamicin (65.21%), and resistance to ampicillin/ sulbactam (65.0%) and amoxicillin/clavulanic acid (52.17%). Regarding predisposing factors, it was evident that 61.29% of women with urinary infection by E. coli did not use contraceptive methods and 38.70% only completed secondary studies (p <0.05). Conclusion: It was concluded that E. coli was susceptible to ceftriaxone, ceftazidime, amikacin and genta-micin and resistant to sulbactam and amoxicillin/clavulanic acid, in addition to the most important predisposing factors for the development of urinary infections were the degree of instruction and use of the contraceptive method.
