Resumen de Tuberculoma cerebral: reporte de un caso

  Objetivo: Reporte de un paciente con tuberculoma cerebral. Material y métodos: Se revisó la historia clínica de un paciente con tuberculoma cerebral y la bibliografía relacionada a esta entidad clínica. Resultados: Describimos un paciente de 29 años con tuberculoma cerebral subcortical frontal derecho, cuya sintomatología se caracterizó por crisis epilépticas y cefalea, el diagnóstico se realizó con estudios seriados de resonancia magnética cerebral y respuesta favorable al tratamiento farmacológico antituberculoso. Conclusiones: El tuberculoma cerebral, es una forma inusual de presentación de la tuberculosis extrapulmonar, cuyo diagnóstico en algunas ocasiones se puede realizar por la respuesta adecuada a fármacos antituberculosos.

  Objective: Case report of a patient with a cerebral tuberculoma. Material and Methods: We reviewed the clinical history of a patient with a cerebral tuberculoma as well as literature approaching this clinical entity. Results: We describe a 29-year-old patient with a right frontal subcortical tuberculoma, who sided with epileptic seizures and cephalea. The diagnosis was made based on MRI and the clinical response to treatment with antitubercular medica-tions. Conclusions: Cerebral tuberculomas are a unusual manifestation of extrapulmonary tuberculosis, and (since the option to pursue a biopsy is impossible) it can occasionally be diagnosed based on an adequate response to antitubercular therapy.
