    El asesinato serial es un fenómeno criminal que ha estado atormentando a la sociedad a lo largo de la historia, pero no es hasta el siglo pasado que se toma conciencia de su existencia y se da comienzo a las investigaciones. En el presente estudio se dan a conocer las motivaciones que impulsan a matar a un individuo y las posibles diferencias motivacionales entre los asesinos y las asesinas en serie, además de comparar, a nivel motivacional, a los sujetos que actúan en España con los que actúan en Estados Unidos.

    Para ello, se han seleccionado 20 casos reales de asesinos en serie, tanto hombres como mujeres, que han actuado en el territorio nacional y el estadounidense y se han analizado los datos correspondientes a las conductas de ritual. A partir de los mismos, se ha llegado a la conclusión de que los hombres matan por motivos sexuales y que las mujeres lo hacen para obtener un beneficio. Este patrón es compartido en ambas regiones, únicamente, añadir que, en Estados Unidos también actúan por poder y control, en el caso de los hombres, y por gratificación sexual, en el caso de las mujeres

    Serial murder is a criminal phenomenon that has been tormenting society throughout history, but it was not until the last century that awareness of its existence was raised and research began. In the present study, the motivations that drive an individual to kill and the possible motivational differences between serial killers and female serial killers are presented, in addition to comparing, at the motivational level, the subjects who act in Spain with those who act in the United States. For this purpose,20 real cases of serial killers, both men and women, who have acted in Spain and the United States, have been selected and the data corresponding to the ritual behaviors have been analyzed. From these data, it has been concluded that men kill for sexual reasons and women kill for profit. This pattern is shared in both regions, only, add that,in the United States they also act for power and control, in the case of men, and for sexual gratification, in the case of women
