Resumen de The Cretaceous planktonic foraminiferal Zones of Pakistan

A.A. Kureshy

  • The Cretaceous deposits of Pakistan are predominantly marine in origin, which are well exposed in Gaj River Section of Lower Indus basin area. These deposits are characterized by planktonic foraminiferal species. On the basis the planktonic species, the Cretaceous deposits are divided into sixteen planktonic foraminiferal zones, representing the Neocomanian to Maestrichtian European Stages of Cretaceous period. These zones are characterized by well recognised species, most of them are restricted to their respective zones. These zones are correlated to the European Stages of Cretaceous period and to the Cretaceous planktonic foraminiferal zones of Trinidad. The European Stages with respect to their planktonic foraminiferal assemblages are also discussed.
