Resumen de Paleoecology and systematics of Cenomanian and Turonian Ostracoda from Guadalajara and Soria (Central Spain). Including a Stratigraphic Outline

Evert Breman

  • The stratigraphy of some Middle Cretaceous deposits in the provinces Guadalajara and Soria (Central Spain) is described. Some suggestions are made about the paleoenvironment of these deposits. After this the paleo-ecology of the Ostracoda in the Molina formation (Lower Turonian) is treated. Two associations are distinguished: a. an open marine association in the lower part of the Molina formation, b. a more restricted marine, shallow water association in its upper part. Finally 38 species of ostracodes are described from the Lower Turonian in the Atienza region (prov. Guadalajara) and from the Upper Cenomanian and Lower Turonian of a section near Fuentetoba not far from the tow of Soria. Five of these spcies are new: Paracyspris guadarramae, Ovocytheridea hispanica, Cythereis condemiensis, Rehacythereis galvensis and Rehacythereis guadalajarensis.
