Resumen de Locais de interesse geoturístico prioritários à conservação ambiental em Santa Maria, RS, Brasil

  Os serviços dos ecossistemas provenientes da interação entre os elementos bióticos e abióticos das pai-sagens somente são possíveis quando o ambiente apresenta um determinado grau de estabilidade, tornando-se assim necessária a conservação ambiental. O trabalho desenvolve-se na perspectiva de identificar os locais de interesse geoturístico no município de Santa Maria — Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. Tais componentes envolvem os atributos geológicos e geomorfológicos da paisagem, os quais, associados ao clima, vegetação, água e atividades antrópicas, propiciam funções ecossistêmicas fundamentais para manutenção da qualidade ambiental local e regional. A relação estabelecida entre a geologia e a geomorfologia propicia o desenvolvimento dos solos, e é onde a diversidade biológica se estabelece, de tal modo que o cuidado em manter a geodiversidade presente nos territórios se torna componente fundamental. Os procedimentos para identificar os locais de interesse geo-turístico foram pautados em referenciais científicos, trabalhos de campo e entrevistas. Os resultados obtidos favoreceram a discussão sobre a ordem de importância, relativamente à conservação destes locais de interesse, bem como a elaboração de um mapa de localização dos mesmos. Os locais identificados relacionam-se aos usos geoturísticos realizados nos morros e cascatas, como também ao uso científico e cultural de sítios fossilíferos. Assim, os elementos analisados constituem potenciais paisagísticos para atividades sustentáveis e de divulgação e incentivo quanto à proteção da paisagem.

  Ecosystem services arising from the interaction between the biotic and abiotic elements of landscapes are only possible when the environment has a certain degree of stability, thus, environmental conservation becomes necessary. The work is developed from the perspective of identifying the places of geotouristic interest in the municipality of Santa Maria — Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Such components involve the geological and geomorphological attributes of the landscape, which, associated with climate, vegetation, water and human activities, provide essential ecosystem functions for the maintenance of local and regional environmental qua-lity. The relationship established between geology and geomorphology favors the development of soils, and it is where biological diversity is established, in such a way that the care to maintain the geodiversity present in the territories becomes a fundamental component. The procedures to identify places of geotouristic interest were based on scientific references, field work and interviews. The results obtained favored the discussion about the order of importance, regarding the conservation of these places of interest, as well as the elaboration of a map of their location. The identified sites are related to the geotouristic uses carried out on the hills and waterfalls, as well as the scientific and cultural use of fossiliferous sites. Thus, the elements analyzed constitute landscape potential for sustainable activities and for dissemination and encouragement regarding the protection of the landscape.
