    Las instituciones de educación superior (IES) de Ecuador son las responsables de la generación, aplicación y transmisión del conocimiento a la sociedad, así es manifestado en la Ley Orgánica de Educación Superior en el capítulo II correspondiente a los fines de esta. El objetivo de la presente investigación fue analizar las nuevas responsabilidades de las instituciones de educación superior del Ecuador para garantizar egresados de tercer y cuarto nivel con conocimientos reales, desde los aspectos legales establecidos en la Ley Orgánica de Educación Superior (LOES). Para ello metodológicamente se realizó un análisis temático, el cual partió de categorías preestablecidas o temas definidos previamente, se siguió un proceso deductivo o teórico. Los resultados destacaron el análisis basado en cinco temas: responsabilidad, valores, ética, fraude académico y generación de conocimientos. Se concluyó que se hace necesario la generación y puesta en práctica de estrategias educativas que conlleven a una efectiva formación universitaria fundamentada en valores como la ética, responsabilidad, honestidad e integridad académica, como garantes de conocimientos cónsonos con la realidad científica.

    The higher education institutions (IES) of Ecuador are responsible for the generation, application, and transmission of knowledge to society, as stated in the Organic Law of Higher Education in chapter II corresponding to its purposes. The objective of this research was to analyze the new responsibilities of higher education institutions in Ecuador to guarantee third and fourth level graduates with real knowledge, from the legal aspects established in the Organic Law of Higher Education (LOES). For this methodologically, a thematic analysis was carried out, which started from pre-established categories or previously defined themes, following a deductive or theoretical process. The results highlighted the analysis based on five themes: responsibility, values, ethics, academic fraud and knowledge generation. It was concluded that it is necessary to generate and implement educational strategies that lead to an effective university education based on values such as ethics, responsibility, honesty and academic integrity, as guarantors of knowledge consistent with scientific reality.
